To review results for Passport Reading Journeys, the data for the 2014–2015 school year were pulled from VPORT®, the Voyager Sopris Learning data management system. During the 2014–2015 school year, 3,726 students were rostered in Passport Reading Journeys. These students were from 14 states, 26 districts, and 73 schools. Students who had all three Reading Benchmark scores were included in this analysis.
A systemwide analysis was conducted of students receiving Passport Reading Journeys instruction during a six-year cohort period (2006–2007 through 2011–2012). This analysis included students from 42 states and 337 districts in grades 6–9. The Lexile® growth experienced by students enabled them to increase their academic vocabulary and domain knowledge as well as increasing their complexity of the text.
“Reading is the nucleus of everything— of science, of social studies, and of reading itself. It just encompasses so much. With Passport Reading Journeys, students forget that they’ are learning, so the motivation is very high. I truly believe this program will help many children become adults with greater opportunities.”
“We are seeing years’ worth of Lexile gaps being closed in a semester’s worth of time.”
“The greatest strength of Passport Reading Journeys is that it encapsulates key content areas into the program, from recognizing the need to engage teens in the learning process to scaffolding instruction.”
We are committed to a long-term partnership with every district that implements our solutions. Each implementation support plan is individually crafted with school and/or district administrators to meet specific needs, including making explicit connections to state standards and/or the CCSS. Districts can choose from a menu of training and support options including in-person, online, or a combination of both.
